University of Wah has an adequate number of teaching laboratories for its departments to help students gain the theoretical and experimental learning in their relevant fields of studies. The laboratories are equipped with the latest equipment and apparatus that offer students to perform hands-on experiments related to their curricula. The list of laboratories is given under description of each department. A state-of-the art UW Lab Complex is available for conducting research at graduate level by graduate students in the field of Biosciences, Chemistry, Physics and other fields.
Information Technology is the core of any institution and University of Wah is cognizant of its significance in the field of education by providing its students several IT services. These services include two data centres and fifteen state-of-the-art computer labs in the University. All computers have latest software and network capabilities. UW has acquired PERN2 bandwidth from HEC to fill the University's aim of enabling its students in academics, research, fast and modern computing and internet usage. All campuses and blocks are interlinked with optical fibre to provide access to accurate and fast information. All IT resources and contents are available to faculty and students round the clock, on and off campus. .
AVICENNA is the Campus Management System (CMS) of University of Wah that maintains and processes database and provides onlinevacademic/curricular records and students' results. It is a web-based application with multiple web browsers support that manages all day-to-dayvactivities of UW efficiently and securely across multiple departments, faculty, staff and students. AVICENNA CMS is named after Ibn-e-Sīnā (c. 980 - 1037), a great Persian Scholar of the Islamic Golden Age and has been indigenously developed by the IT Team at University of Wah. Following are the AVICENNA modules that are operational to perform various functions of the University:
The WEC campus library has over 19,000 books relevant to undergraduate and graduate engineering programs. HEC digital library also exists within WEC library to provide campus wide access to research publications. A database of about 5,200 e-books and a book bank of 3,000 facilitates students with textbooks on all related programs throughout the course. The library also has subscribed to 16 international and local journals to keep students in touch with latest trends. WEC library has a spacious area and calm environment with photocopying and scanning facility..
Hostel accommodation is an essential facility for outstation students at affordable cost. The University has two hostels, one for the male students and the other for female students, with a capacity of 328 and163 students respectively. A well-organized mess in each hostel provides balanced diet, required to meet the essential dietary requirements of young students. The University ensures the safety and security of the students through appropriate security measures. Other facilities provided in the hostels include laundry, TV/Cable and Internet, newspapers, transport, indoor sports, gymnasium, library, etc. Preference in allotment of hostel accommodation is given to outstation students. A Hostel Committee, supervised by the Wardens, looks after the hostel affairs. The consent of parent or guardian is essential while applying for hostel accommodation. The hostel expenses are shared among all residents on monthly basis. Hostel rules may be revised/reviewed as deemed necessary.
University of Wah has a substantial fleet of transport, facilitating the commuting of students on major specified routes within Wah and neighbouring zones including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Kamra, Attock, Hassanabdal and Wah/Taxila at a nominal cost. The daily commuting facility at regular interval is also available to students residing in the hostels. An additional transport facility in form of the POFs Welfare Trust bus serve is also available to the students
Student Facilitation Centre, located at Quaid Campus Central Library, provides guidance to students in acquiring clearance certificates from the University. Online clearance is applied through AVICENNA link available at the University website.
An on-campus medical facility is available to cater for the health needs of the students. In case of serious medical issues, services of POFs Hospital, which is located nearby are available to the students of the University. Facilities including ambulance, wheelchair and stretcher etc. are also accessible at the University.
Alumni Association Office maintains database of the University's Alumni and helps them stay in touch with their alma mater and amongst themselves. It encourages members of the Alumni Association to participate in activities of the University to promote their interest in the University's development. It facilitates and organizes meetings/get-togethers between faculty members and alumni.
University has an auditorium that serves as a meeting point for all major events and activities of the University such as convocations, conferences, seminars, declamation contests and other co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. It has a seating capacity of 800 with 09 state-of-the-art modern facilities.
The Seminar Hall is located at Quaid Campus and provides state-of-the-art media presentation and Video Conferencing facilities. It can accommodate up to 70 participants. Meetings of major governing bodies, seminars, conferences and guest lectures by national and international resource persons are held here in a comfortable environment.
The Multi-Purpose Hall at University of Wah is a venue for holding various events. It has a covered area of 8,400 square feet and has the seating capacity for approximately 500 persons. The hall is used for hosting convocations, conduct of examinations, organizing get-togethers, indoor activities, games and exhibitions.
The University has three cafeterias in respective campuses to provide comfortable environment to its students where they can relax and enjoy. Meals and snacks at the cafeterias are provided on subsidized rates with good food quality. A cafeteria committee keeps check on the quality and rates of the eatables, apart from maintaining good hygienic standards.
University of Wah FM 101.8 is a noncommercial short-range educational Radio Station established by the University to provide audio services to Wah and adjoining areas including Taxila, Hassanabdal and Hattar. The broadcasted programs are related to education, professional and social skills needed for youth and community development.Along with the participation of the faculty and students in programs, professionals and experts as resource persons from different areas of specialization are invited to deliver live and recorded lectures on relevant topics. UW radio station spreads positivity, hope, patriotism, and national spirit among its audiences, including students, teachers, parents, and general public. UW FM radio programs cover educational and professional contents such as entrepreneurship, literature, issues of the society, entertainment, reativity in the form of fiction/stories and grooming of professional/personality skills in youth. FM Radio also serves as a platform for coverage of major events and announcements of UW and POFs.
